More Information: The Youth Business Grant Program (YBGP) encourages young people to open and run their own business. The goal of the program is to help young entrepreneurs learn about the day-to-day responsibilities and the advantages and disadvantages of operating a business. Up to $200 is made available to enterprising young business people, between the ages of 13 and 19, who are willing to start a business during the summer. To apply for a YBGP grant, applicants must prepare a Mini-Business Plan for evaluation by the LACDC and local community volunteers. Applicants are expected to be prepared to present information from their business plan and persuade an interview panel why they need a grant to start their business. In addition, mentors will be available to assist recipients in managing the details of their business and recipients are expected to provide a final report at the end of the summer.
